अश्वमेधप्रवृत्तिः — Commencement and Performance of Daśaratha’s Aśvamedha
नियुक्तास्तत्र पशवस्तत्तदुद्दिश्य दैवतम्।उरगा: पक्षिणश्चैव यथाशास्त्रं प्रचोदिता:।।।।
niyuktās tatra paśavas tattad-uddiśya daivatam | uragāḥ pakṣiṇaś caiva yathā-śāstraṃ pracoditāḥ ||
There, animals were assigned and set apart for the respective deities; serpents and birds too were duly provided for, in accordance with the scriptures.
Animals, serpents and birds were kept ready after the sastras intended (for sacrifice) for those respective deities.
Dharma is obedience to injunctions and clarity of intention—each offering is designated properly, avoiding disorder and ensuring the rite matches its stated purpose (satya of intention).
Various beings intended for sacrificial dedication are arranged and allocated to specific deities as prescribed.
Orderliness and accountability in religious duty—doing what is prescribed, as prescribed.
