हयमेध-यज्ञोपक्रमः — Commencement of the Aśvamedha Preparations
स्वयमेव हि धर्मात्मा प्रययौ मुनिशासनात्।सुमन्त्रस्त्वरितो भूत्वा समानेतुं महीक्षित:।।1.13.28।।
vasiṣṭhavākyaṃ tac chrutvā sumantras tvaritas tadā |
vyādiśat puruṣāṃs tatra rājñām ānayane śubhān || 1.13.27 ||
Hearing Vasiṣṭha’s words, Sumantra at once hastened and dispatched virtuous, auspicious emissaries to bring the kings.
In accordance with the ascetic's order, righteous Sumantra himself quickly set out to escort Janaka and other kings.
Dharma is faithful execution of a righteous command: Sumantra responds promptly to the guru-like authority of Vasiṣṭha, supporting the yajña through disciplined service.
After receiving instructions, Sumantra immediately sends suitable messengers to summon the invited kings.
Sumantra’s loyalty and efficiency—swift, orderly action in service of a sacred and royal duty.
