In the lineage of the Ikṣvākus there will be born a king of great righteousness, named Daśaratha—illustrious and radiant, true to the word he has pledged.
Dharma is anchored in satya (truthfulness): ideal kingship is defined by fidelity to one’s promise and righteous conduct.
The text introduces/foretells the emergence of Daśaratha in the Ikṣvāku line, characterizing him by dharma and truth.
Daśaratha’s satyapratiśrava—reliability and integrity in keeping vows.
