ऋश्यशृङ्ग-आनयनम् (Bringing Ṛśyaśṛṅga to Aṅga and His Marriage to Śāntā)
पिता विभण्डकोऽस्माकं तस्याहं सुत औरस:।ऋश्यशृङ्ग इति ख्यातं नाम कर्म च मे भुवि।।।।
pitā vibhaṇḍako ’smākaṃ tasyāhaṃ suta aurasaḥ |
ṛśyaśṛṅga iti khyātaṃ nāma karma ca me bhuvi ||
“My father is Vibhaṇḍaka, and I am his own son. My name is famed on earth as ‘Ṛśyaśṛṅga,’ a name connected with my destiny and deed.”
'My father is Vibhandaka. I am his own son. My name is Rsyasringa. I am known the world over by this name associated with my karma'.
Satya is primary: Ṛśyaśṛṅga responds with straightforward truth about lineage and identity, reflecting an ascetic culture of non-deception.
Responding to the women’s questions, Ṛśyaśṛṅga states who he is and names his father.
