Then, after reassuring Tārā, Vāli engaged with Sugrīva; and there Rāghava struck him down with a single arrow.
After convincing his wife Tara, who was dissuading from this, Vali entered into a combat with Sugriva. There, Rama killed Vali with a single shaft.
The verse foregrounds satya to a pledged alliance: Rāma acts to fulfill his promise to Sugrīva. It also hints at the social-ethical dimension—Tārā’s counsel is acknowledged before the fatal decision unfolds.
Vāli, after addressing Tārā’s intervention, confronts Sugrīva; Rāma then kills Vāli with one arrow, resolving the immediate power struggle.
Rāma’s steadfastness to his word and his role as an effective protector of an ally; Tārā’s prudent counsel appears as a voice of caution within the conflict.
