श्रीमद्रामायणकथासङ्क्षेपः / The Ramayana in Synopsis (Narada’s Summary to Valmiki)
एतदिच्छाम्यहं श्रोतुं परं कौतूहलं हि मे ।महर्षे त्वं समर्थोऽसि ज्ञातुमेवंविधं नरम् ।।।।
vāryamāṇaḥ subahuśo mārīcena sa rāvaṇaḥ | na virodho balavatā kṣamo rāvaṇa tena te || 1.1.50 ||
Though Mārīca repeatedly warned him, saying, “O Rāvaṇa, hostility with that mighty one is not fitting for you,” Rāvaṇa would not be restrained.
O Maharshi, I intend to hear about such a man whom you are able to place? Indeed great is my curiosity".
Dharma values truthful counsel and prudent restraint; rejecting wise advice due to pride or rage leads toward adharma.
Mārīca attempts to dissuade Rāvaṇa from opposing Rāma, recognizing Rāma’s strength and the danger of the conflict.
