भरद्वाजाश्रमे भरतसैन्यस्य दिव्यात्मिथ्यम् / Divine Hospitality to Bharata’s Army at Bharadvaja’s Hermitage
याभिर्गृहीतः पुरुषस्सोन्माद इव लक्ष्यते।आगुर्विंशतिसाहस्रा नन्दनादप्सरोगणाः।।।।
kimarthaṃ cāpi nikṣipya dūre balam ihāgataḥ |
kasmān nehōpayāto 'si sabalaḥ puruṣarṣabhaḥ ||
Why have you come here after leaving your army stationed at a distance? Why did you not approach here together with your forces, O best of men?
Troops of twenty thousand apsaras by whom any man when taken hold of in their arms could be intoxicated with intense passion, came from Nandana gardens.
Respectful conduct and transparency toward sages: a leader should approach a holy person without arousing fear or suspicion, balancing security with humility and trust.
Bharata arrives at Bharadvāja’s hermitage during his journey; the sage questions why Bharata kept his army at a distance instead of coming openly with it.
