भरद्वाजाश्रमे भरतसैन्यस्य दिव्यात्मिथ्यम् / Divine Hospitality to Bharata’s Army at Bharadvaja’s Hermitage
नारदस्तुम्भुरुर्गोपः प्रवरास्सूर्यवर्चसः।एते गन्धर्वराजानो भरतस्याग्रतो जगुः।।।।
yābhir gṛhītaḥ puruṣaḥ sonmāda iva lakṣyate |
āgur viṃśatisāhasrā nandanād apsarogaṇāḥ ||
From Nandana came twenty thousand companies of apsarases—those by whose embrace a man would appear as if maddened with overpowering desire.
There along with Narada, Tumburu and Gopa, distinguished kings of the gandharvas, looking bright like the Sun, began to sing in the presence of Bharata.
The verse highlights the power of sensual temptation; dharma requires restraint (dama) and clarity of purpose even amid alluring pleasures.
As part of Bharadvāja’s extraordinary hospitality, celestial entertainers arrive to honor Bharata and his party.
Implicitly, Bharata’s self-control is tested—his virtue is steadiness and discipline despite enticing diversions.
