भरद्वाजाश्रमगमनम् (Bharata at Bharadvāja’s Hermitage)
जाने चैतन्मनस्थं ते दृढीकरणमस्त्विति।अपृच्छं त्वां तथाऽत्यर्थं कीर्तिं समभिवर्धयन्।।2.90.21।।
tataḥ sandarśane tasya bharadvājasya rāghavaḥ |
mantriṇas tān avasthāpya jagāma anupurohitam ||2.90.3||
Then Bharata, scion of the Raghu line, halted his ministers within sight of Bharadvāja’s hermitage and proceeded ahead, following his family priest.
I am aware of the feelings in your heart. Even then I enquired in order to confirm it and to further your fame.
Respect for proper conduct (maryādā): Bharata approaches the sage with due decorum, keeping his retinue appropriately stationed and proceeding with priestly guidance.
Bharata arrives near Bharadvāja’s hermitage and advances to meet the sage, leaving his ministers nearby rather than entering en masse.
Humility and discipline—Bharata restrains royal display and follows the counsel of the family priest.
