और्ध्वदैहिकक्रिया-शोकविलापः (Obsequies for Daśaratha and the Brothers’ Lament)
ततः प्रकृतिमान्वैद्यः पितुरेषां पुरोहितः।।।।वसिष्ठो भरतं वाक्यमुत्थाप्य तमुवाच ह।
tataḥ prakṛtimān vaidyaḥ pitur eṣāṃ purohitaḥ | vasiṣṭho bharataṃ vākyam utthāpya tam uvāca ha ||
Then Vasiṣṭha—their father’s purohita, learned and composed—raised Bharata and spoke these words to him.
Then his father's family priest Vasistha of composed mind and versed in the Vedas raised Bharata and said to him:
Dharma includes receiving wise counsel: elders and priests guide rulers from grief toward duty and truthful discernment.
Seeing Bharata collapsed in sorrow, Vasiṣṭha lifts him up to instruct him.
Vasiṣṭha’s steadiness and compassionate authority—calm guidance in a crisis.
