Shloka 2.27.16

सीताया वनगमननिश्चयः (Sita’s Resolve to Accompany Rama to the Forest)

इच्छामि सरितश्शैलान्पल्वलानि वनानि च।द्रष्टुं सर्वत्र निर्भीता त्वया नाथेन धीमता।।।।

phalamūlāśanā nityaṃ bhaviṣyāmi na saṃśayaḥ |

na te duḥkhaṃ kariṣyāmi nivasantī saha tvayā ||

Have no doubt: I will live always on fruits and roots. Living with you, I will not become a cause of hardship to you.

Living with you sans fear, O my sagacious husband, I wish to see the rivers, mountains, lakes and forests here and there.

Forest-life (phala-mūla)

Voluntary austerity and non-burdening others: Dharma includes adapting oneself to hardship so that one’s chosen duty does not harm companions.

Sītā answers the practical objection that she may not endure forest conditions, assuring Rāma of her capability.

Endurance (titikṣā) and considerate love—she promises simplicity and responsibility in shared exile.
