कौशल्यारामसंवादः — Kausalya–Rama Dialogue on Exile-Dharma
गच्छ पुत्र त्वमेकाग्रो भद्रं तेऽस्तु सदा विभुः।पुनस्त्वयि निवृत्ते तु भविष्यामि गतव्यथा।।2.24.33।।
gaccha putra tvam ekāgro bhadraṃ te ’stu sadā vibhuḥ |
punas tvayi nivṛtte tu bhaviṣyāmi gatavyathā || 2.24.33 ||
Go then, my son, with unwavering focus; may the Lord grant you safety always. Only when you return will I be free from my pain.
Go with a steadfast mind, O my son! May god be gracious. Only with your return, I shall be relieved of my suffering.
Dharma includes blessing and support for the righteous path even when it causes personal suffering—prioritizing the son’s duty and safety.
Having failed to dissuade Rāma, Kauśalyā gives permission and a prayer for his protection.
Selfless love: she subordinates her own distress to Rāma’s dharmic mission.
