पिण्डदानदर्शनम् — The Queens Behold Rama’s Śrāddha Offering

सीताऽपि चरणांस्तासामुपसङ्गृह्य दुःखिता।श्वश्रूणामश्रुपूर्णाक्षी सा बभूवाग्रतः स्थिता।।2.103.22।।

sītāpi caraṇāṃs tāsām upasaṅgṛhya duḥkhitā | śvaśrūṇām aśrupūrṇākṣī sā babhūvāgrataḥ sthitā ||

Sītā too, sorrowing, clasped the feet of her mothers-in-law; with tear-filled eyes, she stood before them.

Sita, too, overcome with grief, grasped the feet of her mothers-in-law and stood before them, her eyes full of tears.

It models strī-dharma and maryādā as respectful humility: Sita honors her elders (mothers-in-law) even while sharing the sorrow of exile, showing that righteousness is maintained through conduct under pressure.

In the hermitage encounter, Sita approaches the queens, bows at their feet, and stands before them weeping.

Sita’s modesty, reverence, and emotional sincerity—steadfast dignity in suffering.
