O scion of Kakutstha, when you regain the ancestral realm of your forefathers and are established in kingship, O Rāma, you should always remember me there.
O scion of the Kakutstha dynasty, on getting the hereditary kingdom and ruling over it you should always remember me.
Remembrance and gratitude as royal dharma: when rightful order is restored, one should not forget those who stood by in hardship.
Lakṣmaṇa speaks to Rāma amid danger, projecting hope that Rāma will regain his rightful kingdom and asking to be remembered then.
Devotion and loyalty—Lakṣmaṇa’s unwavering attachment to Rāma’s rightful cause and future restoration.
