Shloka 3.64.13

गोदावरीतटे सीतान्वेषणम् — The Search for Sītā at the Godāvarī

ज्ञातिपक्षविहीनस्य राजपुत्रीमपश्यतः।।।।मन्ये दीर्घा भविष्यन्ति रात्रयो मम जाग्रतः।

jñātipakṣavihīnasya rājaputrīm apaśyataḥ | manye dīrghā bhaviṣyanti rātrayo mama jāgrataḥ ||

Far from my kin, and not beholding the princess, I think the nights will grow long for me as I lie awake.

Away from relatives and away from the princess, I keep awake during nights which seem too long.

Dharma is emotional restraint with truthful self-awareness: Rāma openly names his suffering without abandoning righteous conduct, showing that dharma includes endurance of inner trials.

Rāma anticipates sleepless nights due to separation from Sītā and lack of familial support in the wilderness.
