Shloka 3.62.11
सीतावियोगे रामविलापः (Rāma’s Lament in Separation from Sītā)
सीतया सह निर्यातो विना सीतामुपागतः।।3.62.11।।कथं नाम प्रवेक्ष्यामि शून्यमन्तःपुरं पुनः।
paśyann iva ca tāṃ sītām apaśyan madanārditaḥ | uvāca rāghavo vākyaṃ vilāpāśraya-durvacam || 3.62.2 ||
Though he did not truly see Sītā, Rāghava—overpowered by love—spoke as if she were before him, uttering words born of lament and otherwise unspeakable.
I left home with Sita. How can I re-enter the inner apartment without her ?
The verse highlights the dharmic depth of marital fidelity and responsibility: Rāma’s grief shows that a spouse is not treated as an accessory but as an essential moral companion, whose loss shakes one’s inner order.
Immediately after Sītā has been abducted, Rāma searches in distress and begins speaking in a grief-stricken manner, as though she were present.
Rāma’s steadfast attachment and responsibility toward Sītā—expressed as intense compassion and urgency rather than indifference.
