रावणस्य सीताप्रलोभनम् (Ravana’s Attempt to Allure Sita)
न देवेषु न यक्षेषु न गन्धर्वेषु पक्षिषु।अहं पश्यामि लोकेषु यो मे वीर्यसमो भवेत्।।3.55.20।।
na deveṣu na yakṣeṣu na gandharveṣu pakṣiṣu |
ahaṃ paśyāmi lokeṣu yo me vīrya-samo bhavet ||3.55.20||
Among gods, Yakṣas, Gandharvas, or even birds, I see no one in the worlds who could be my equal in valor.
I do not see any one equal to me in valour among gods, or yakshas or gandharvas or birds.
Dharma warns against ahaṅkāra (arrogant self-exaltation). Pride that denies equals often becomes the ground for injustice and cruelty.
Rāvaṇa tries to intimidate and impress Sītā by boasting that no being across classes of creatures matches his prowess.
Humility and truthful self-assessment are implied virtues—contrasted with Rāvaṇa’s boastful pride.
