सीताहरण-विलापः / The Lament at Jatāyu and the Abduction of Sītā
दृष्ट्वा सीतां परामृष्टां दीनां दिव्येन चक्षुषा।।।।कृतं कार्यमिति श्रीमान्व्याजहार पितामहः।
dṛṣṭvā sītāṃ parāmṛṣṭāṃ dīnāṃ divyena cakṣuṣā |
kṛtaṃ kāryam iti śrīmān vyājahāra pitāmahaḥ ||
With his divine sight, the glorious Grandfather, Pitāmaha (Brahmā), beheld Sītā—assaulted and left in misery—and declared, “The task has been accomplished.”
Brahma, the glorious Grandfather, saw with his divine eyes, Sita in a desperate state caught by the enemy and said, 'The task is accomplished.
The verse frames suffering within a providential moral order: even painful events can become instruments for restoring dharma. It suggests that adharma (Rāvaṇa’s act) will catalyze a larger dharmic resolution.
Immediately after Sītā is seized, the text presents Brahmā’s divine observation and pronouncement that the destined purpose behind the unfolding events has been set in motion.
Not a personal virtue but a cosmic principle: steadfastness of satya (truth) and the inevitability of dharma’s victory, as recognized by a divine witness.
