बह्वीनामुत्तमस्त्रीणामाहृतानामितस्ततः।सर्वासामेव भद्रं ते ममाग्रमहिषी भव।।3.47.28।।
bahvīnām uttamastrīṇām āhṛtānām itastataḥ | sarvāsām eva bhadraṃ te mamāgramahiṣī bhava ||
Among the many noble women I have brought from various places, be—good fortune to you—the foremost queen of them all.
You will be the chief queen among the best of women I have won in wars. Be blessed.
Dharma rejects coercive temptation: power and status cannot justify violating another’s marriage and autonomy; righteousness is not negotiable by luxury.
Rāvaṇa attempts to entice Sītā by promising her the highest rank among his women.
The intended contrast is Sītā’s fidelity and moral steadfastness versus Rāvaṇa’s misuse of power and desire.
