Shloka 3.47.21
सीतारावणसंवादः — Ravana Reveals Himself; Sita Affirms Rama’s Dharma
ते वयं प्रच्युता राज्यात्कैकेय्यास्तु कृते त्रयः।।3.47.21।।विचरामो द्विजश्रेष्ठ वनं गम्भीरमोजसा।
te vayaṃ pracyutā rājyāt kaikeyyāstu kṛte trayaḥ | vicarāmo dvijaśreṣṭha vanaṃ gambhīram ojasā ||
O best of brahmins, the three of us, driven out from the kingdom on account of Kaikeyī, now roam this deep forest with undiminished courage.
O best of brahmins! three of us have been wandering with courage in the deep forest, dislodged from the kingdom on account of Kaikeyi.
Dharma here includes endurance and adherence to rightful duty even when unjustly deprived. Exile is borne without abandoning courage or moral order.
Sītā explains to the disguised Rāvaṇa why she, Rāma, and Lakṣmaṇa are living in the forest: they were displaced from royal life due to Kaikeyī’s actions.
Steadfastness and valor in adversity—continuing a dharmic life despite loss of power and comfort.
