मायामृगदर्शनम् (The Vision of the Illusory Deer)
अहमेनं वधिष्यामि ग्रहीष्याम्यपि वा मृगम्।।।।यावद्गच्छामि सौमित्रे मृगमानयितुं द्रुतम्।
aham enaṃ vadhiṣyāmi grahīṣyāmy api vā mṛgam | yāvad gacchāmi saumitre mṛgam ānayituṃ drutam ||
I shall go swiftly, O Saumitri, to bring that deer—either I will slay it or seize it alive.
O Lakshmana! I will go quickly and either kill the deer or catch it. Now let me go.
Resolve in action: once a duty is chosen, it should be pursued decisively, while ensuring responsibilities at home (Sītā’s safety) are assigned.
Rāma declares his immediate plan to pursue the deer and return with it.
Determination and capability: Rāma expresses confidence in either capturing or killing the deer swiftly.
