अरण्यकाण्डे द्वात्रिंशः सर्गः — Śūrpaṇakhā’s Report to Rāvaṇa and the Panegyric of His Might
विष्णुचक्रनिपातैश्च शतशो देवसंयुगे।अन्यैश्शस्त्रप्रहारैश्च महायुद्धेषु ताडितम्।।।।
viṣṇucakranipātaiś ca śataśo devasaṃyuge | anyaiḥ śastraprahāraiś ca mahāyuddheṣu tāḍitam || 3.32.10 ||
In wars against the gods he had been struck hundreds of times by the falling discus of Viṣṇu, and battered in great battles by the blows of many other weapons.
He was hit by the wheel of Visnu for hundreds of times during great wars and beaten by other weapons.
Even immense power and battle-survival do not equal righteousness; dharma judges intent and conduct, not merely invincibility.
The narration builds Rāvaṇa’s formidable reputation, explaining why his arrogance and threat feel consequential within the story.
