Shloka 3.31.3

अकम्पनवृत्तान्तः — Akampana Reports Janasthana; Ravana Plans Sita’s Abduction

एवमुक्तो दशग्रीवः क्रुद्ध स्संरक्तलोचनः।अकम्पनमुवाचेदं निर्दहन्निव चक्षुषा।।3.31.3।।

naiva devī na gandharvī nāpsarā nāpi dānavī |

tulyā sīmantinī tasyā mānuṣīṣu kuto bhavet ||3.31.30||

No goddess, no gandharva-woman, no apsaras, nor even a dānava-woman is her equal; how then could any human woman compare to her?

When Akampana thus reported to the ten-headed Ravana, his eyes reddened with anger. He spoke to Akampana as if he was burning him with his eyes :

S
Sita
R
Ravana
A
Akampana
D
Devi (goddess-class)
G
Gandharvi
A
Apsaras
D
Danavi

The verse warns indirectly that beauty and excellence can become instruments of unrighteous desire if not governed by dharma and self-control.

Akampana intensifies Sita’s incomparable beauty, which fuels Ravana’s resolve to seize her.

Sita’s exceptional, almost divine excellence—contrasted later with Ravana’s adharma in coveting another’s wife.
