अकम्पनवृत्तान्तः — Akampana Reports Janasthana; Ravana Plans Sita’s Abduction
येन येन च गच्छन्ति राक्षसा भयकर्शिताः।3.31.19।।तेन तेन स्म पश्यन्ति राममेवाग्रतः स्थितम्।इत्थं विनाशितं तेन जनस्थानं तवानघ।।3.31.20।।
akampanavacaḥ śrutvā rāvaṇo vākyam abravīt |
janasthānaṃ gamiṣyāmi hantuṃ rāmaṃ salakṣmaṇam ||3.31.21||
Hearing Akampana’s words, Rāvaṇa said: “I will go to Janasthāna and kill Rāma—together with Lakṣmaṇa.”
Wherever the demons went they, gripped by fear, only saw Rama in front. O sinless sire In this manner your Janasthana was destroyed by him.
It illustrates adharma’s response to truth: instead of reflection and restraint, Rāvaṇa chooses vengeance, deepening moral downfall.
Rāvaṇa reacts to the report of Janasthāna’s destruction by declaring his intent to personally kill Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa.
A negative trait is foregrounded: wrathful pride and retaliatory intent, opposed to dharmic self-control.
