खररामयुद्धम् — The Battle of Khara and Rama (Aranya Kanda, Sarga 28)
स सर्वाश्च दिशो बाणैः प्रदिशश्च महारथः।पूरयामास तं दृष्ट्वा रामोऽपि सुमहद्धनुः।।।।
sa sāyakair durvisahaiḥ sasphuliṅgair ivāgnibhiḥ |
nabhaś cakārāvivaraṃ parjanya iva vṛṣṭibhiḥ ||
With irresistible arrows, sparkling like firebrands, he made the sky without a gap—like a rain-cloud that, when it pours, leaves no space unfilled.
When Rama, the great warrior, saw Khara approaching him, he fixed powerful arrows on his bow and covered all directions and intermediate quarters with his arrows.
When confronting adharma, Dharma may appear forceful; the moral point is not love of violence but the necessity of effective protection.
Rama’s arrows become so dense that the sky seems fully packed, compared to an unbroken downpour.
Power guided by purpose—Rama’s capacity to act effectively, not hesitantly, in defense of right.
