दूषणवधः (The Slaying of Dūṣaṇa and the Rout of Khara’s Host)
तस्य सैन्यस्य सर्वस्य खरश्शेषो महारथः।राक्षसस्त्रिशिराश्चैव रामश्च रिपुसूदनः।।।।
kṣaṇena tu mahāghoraṁ vanaṁ nihatarākṣasam | babhūva nirayaprakhyaṁ māṁsaśoṇitakardamam ||
In an instant that forest—filled with slain rākṣasas—became terribly dreadful, like hell itself, its ground churned into mire of flesh and blood.
Of that entire army great warrior Khara,Trisira and Rama, destroyer of foes alone remained.
Even justified battle has horrific consequences; dharma includes acknowledging the suffering caused by adharma and the necessity of ending it decisively.
After mass slaughter in the forest fight, the landscape is described as hell-like due to bloodshed.
Implied is Rama’s capacity to end terror quickly; the verse mainly emphasizes the stark reality of war.
