खरसेनासङ्ग्रामः — The Battle with Khara’s Host at the Hermitage
ततश्शरसहस्राणि निर्ययुश्चापमण्डलात्।सर्वा दश दिशो बाणैरावार्यन्त समागतैः।।।।
śarāndhakāram ākāśam āvṛṇot sa-divākaram | babhūvāvasthito rāmaḥ pravamann iva tāñ charān ||
The sky—along with the sun—was veiled by a darkness of arrows; and Rama, standing firm, appeared as though he were spewing forth those shafts.
Rama then let out from his bow, stretched round, thousands of arrows that covered all the ten quarters.
Dharma is unwavering resolve in a just cause—Rama remains ‘avasthita’ (firmly stationed) even as the battlefield turns overwhelming.
Rama’s arrow-volley becomes so dense it darkens the sky and obscures even the sun.
Steadiness (dhṛti)—holding position and purpose amid extreme chaos.
