पञ्चवटी-निवासः (Settlement at Pañcavaṭī and Construction of the Hermitage)
सुप्रीतस्तेन वाक्येन लक्ष्मणस्य महात्मनः।विमृशन्रोचयामास देशं सर्वगुणान्वितम्।।।।
evaṃ lakṣmaṇam uktvā tu rāghavo lakṣmivardhanaḥ |
tasmin deśe bahu-phale nyavasat su-sukhaṃ vaśī ||
Having spoken thus to Lakṣmaṇa, Rāghava—enhancer of prosperity, self-controlled—dwelt there very happily, in that place rich with fruits.
Rama was pleased with the words of great Lakshmana. Deliberating over it, he agreed upon a site suitable in all respects.
Dharma is inner governance: even in exile, Rāma’s happiness is rooted in self-control and right living, not in luxury.
After directing Lakṣmaṇa regarding the hermitage arrangements, Rāma settles in the fruit-rich region and lives contentedly.
Vaśitva (mastery over the senses) and steadiness—Rāma remains composed and fulfilled in hardship.
