पञ्चवटी-निवासः (Settlement at Pañcavaṭī and Construction of the Hermitage)
प्रीतोऽस्मि ते महत्कर्म त्वया कृतमिदं प्रभो।प्रदेयो यन्निमित्तं ते परिष्वङ्गो मया कृतः।।।।
prīto 'smi te mahat karma tvayā kṛtam idaṃ prabho |
pradeyo yan-nimittaṃ te pariṣvaṅgo mayā kṛtaḥ || 3.15.28 ||
“I am pleased with you, O noble one; this is a great deed you have done. Therefore I give you what I can at present—my embrace.”
O my master, you have done a great task for which I have given you what I could give at the moment- a hug.
Gratitude and humility: dharma includes recognizing another’s sacrifice and responding with sincere appreciation, even if one cannot repay materially.
Rāma verbally thanks Lakṣmaṇa for building the hermitage, explaining that his embrace is his immediate gift of appreciation.
Rāma’s kṛtajñatā (thankfulness) and modesty—he honors Lakṣmaṇa’s work without entitlement.
