पञ्चवटी-निर्देशः (Agastya Directs Rama to Panchavati)
एषा हि प्रकृतिः स्त्रीणामासृष्टे रघुनन्दन।समस्थमनुरज्यान्ति विषमस्थं त्यजन्ति च।।।।
agastyenaivam uktas tu rāmaḥ saumitriṇā saha | satkṛtyāmantrayāmāsa tam ṛṣiṃ satyavādinam ||
Thus instructed by Agastya, Rama—together with Saumitrī (Lakṣmaṇa)—honoured that sage, devoted to truth, and then took respectful leave of him.
O Rama, the delight of the Raghu dynasty! from the beginning of the creation women, by nature, keep the husband company when all goes well and give them up when hard times come.
Dharma includes reverence to truth-speaking sages: instruction is received with humility, gratitude, and proper leave-taking.
After receiving directions, Rama and Lakshmana formally honour Agastya and depart.
Rama’s courtesy and humility (vinaya), and Agastya’s satya (truthfulness).
