Shloka 3.12.26

अगस्त्याश्रमप्रवेशः तथा दिव्यायुधप्रदानम् (Entry into Agastya’s Hermitage and the Gift of Divine Weapons)

प्रतिजग्राह काकुत्स्थमर्चयित्वासनोदकैः।कुशलप्रश्नमुक्त्वा च आस्यतामिति चाब्रवीत्।। ।।

pratijagrāha kākutstham arcayitvāsanodakaiḥ |

kuśalapraśnam uktvā ca āsyatām iti cābravīt ||

Agastya welcomed Rāma of the Kakutsthas, honoring him with a seat and water; after asking about his welfare, he said, “Please, be seated.”

Agastya received Rama by offering him seat and water, enquired about his well-being and said: Please be seated,

Atithi-dharma (the duty to guests): offering water and a seat, speaking kindly, and ensuring the guest’s comfort are treated as righteous obligations.
