Shloka 3.11.57

पञ्चाप्सरो-सरः कथनम् तथा अगस्त्याश्रममार्गनिर्देशः (Panchapsara Lake Account and Directions to Agastya)

भ्रातरं संस्कृतं कृत्वा ततस्तं मेषरूपिणम्।।।।तान् द्विजान्भोजयामास श्राद्धदृष्टेन कर्मणा।

bhrātaraṃ saṃskṛtaṃ kṛtvā tatas taṃ meṣa-rūpiṇam ||

tān dvijān bhojayāmāsa śrāddha-dṛṣṭena karmaṇā |

Then, after ‘consecrating’ his brother who had taken a ram’s form, he fed those twice-born according to the rites prescribed for śrāddha.

Ilvala would keep his brother sanctified, so that he is fit for offering, Then he would feed the brahmins with mutton according to the rituals.

I
Ilvala (implied)
I
Ilvala’s brother (Vātāpi, implied by next verse)
D
dvija (brahmins)
Ś
śrāddha

Misuse of ritual is adharma: sacred procedures meant for honoring ancestors are perverted into instruments of violence.

Ilvala prepares his brother in a ram-form and serves him as food to brahmins under the cover of śrāddha rites.

The implied virtue is integrity in religious practice—ritual without dharmic intent becomes corruption.
