Matsya Purana — Yadu Lineage
*महादेव उवाच एतद्व्रतं त्वयैकेन चीर्णं नान्येन केनचित् तस्माद्वै तपसा बुद्ध्या श्रुतेन च बलेन च //
*mahādeva uvāca etadvrataṃ tvayaikena cīrṇaṃ nānyena kenacit tasmādvai tapasā buddhyā śrutena ca balena ca //
Mahādeva said: “This sacred vow has been observed by you alone—by no one else at all. Therefore indeed you are endowed with austerity, discernment, sacred learning (Śruti), and strength.”
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it focuses on the unique merit of performing a specific vow and the resulting spiritual and personal endowments (tapas, intellect, learning, strength).
It presents vrata-observance as a core dharmic discipline: sincere, exceptional practice cultivates tapas (self-control), buddhi (sound judgment), śruti (scriptural grounding), and bala (capacity to uphold duty)—qualities essential for both righteous kingship and household life.
The ritual significance is the emphasis on vrata (a regulated religious observance); no Vastu or temple-architecture rule is stated in this verse.
