Matsya Purana — The Procedure and Merit of the Śubha-Saptamī Vrata
फलैर् नानाविधैर् भक्ष्यैर् घृतपायससंयुतैः दद्याद्द्विकालवेलायाम् अर्यमा प्रीयतामिति //
phalair nānāvidhair bhakṣyair ghṛtapāyasasaṃyutaiḥ dadyāddvikālavelāyām aryamā prīyatāmiti //
At the two appointed times of the day, one should offer assorted fruits and various foods together with ghee and sweet rice-pudding (pāyasa), uttering: “May Aryaman be pleased.”
This verse is not about pralaya; it focuses on daily ritual giving—offerings of food (fruits, delicacies, ghee, and payasa) to propitiate Aryaman.
It prescribes a householder-style dharma of regular dāna/offerings at fixed daily times, emphasizing hospitality and ritual generosity as a means to gain divine favor (here, Aryaman).
The significance is ritual (not architectural): the verse specifies the offering-items and the timing—twice daily—and the mantra-like utterance “Aryamā prīyatām” as the act of propitiation.
