Matsya Purana — The Procedure and Merit of the Śubha-Saptamī Vrata
इमां पठेद्यः शृणुयान्मुहूर्तं पश्येत्प्रसङ्गादपि दीयमानम् सो ऽप्यत्र सर्वाघविमुक्तदेहः प्राप्नोति विद्याधरनायकत्वम् //
imāṃ paṭhedyaḥ śṛṇuyānmuhūrtaṃ paśyetprasaṅgādapi dīyamānam so 'pyatra sarvāghavimuktadehaḥ prāpnoti vidyādharanāyakatvam //
Whoever recites this, or listens to it for even a single muhūrta, or even happens to see it being given (recited or bestowed) by mere association—he too, in this very state, becomes freed from all sin; and he attains the rank of a leader among the Vidyādharas.
This verse is not about pralaya; it is a phala-śruti stating that reciting, hearing, or even incidentally seeing the sacred narration grants purification from sins and a celestial attainment (Vidyādhara leadership).
It promotes an accessible dharmic practice for all āśramas: regular śravaṇa (hearing) and pāṭha (recitation) of Purāṇic teaching as a means of pāpa-kṣaya and upliftment—supporting the householder’s duty of maintaining purity and right conduct.
No specific Vāstu or temple-building rule is stated; the ritual takeaway is the efficacy of darśana–śravaṇa–pāṭha (seeing, hearing, reciting) as spiritually potent acts even when performed briefly or by chance association.
