Matsya Purana — The Observance of Ananta-Tritiya
इमामनन्तफलदां यस्तृतीयां समाचरेत् कल्पकोटिशतं साग्रं शिवलोके महीयते //
imāmanantaphaladāṃ yastṛtīyāṃ samācaret kalpakoṭiśataṃ sāgraṃ śivaloke mahīyate //
Whoever duly performs this third-day observance (Tṛtīyā), which bestows endless rewards, is honored in Śiva’s world for a full hundred crores of kalpas, and more.
This verse does not discuss pralaya directly; it is a phala-śruti (statement of results) emphasizing the vast, time-transcending merit (measured in kalpas) gained by observing the Tṛtīyā vow.
It frames a practical dharma for householders (and rulers) in the form of a vrata: disciplined observance on Tṛtīyā yields enduring spiritual status, presenting piety and self-regulation as core duties alongside worldly responsibilities.
The significance is ritual rather than architectural: the verse praises correct performance of the Tṛtīyā observance and links it to exalted post-mortem honor in Śivaloka.
