Matsya Purana — The Maheshvara Vow: Śiva-Caturdaśī Vrata
मन्दारमालतीभिश्च तथा धत्तूरकैरपि सिन्दुवारैरशोकैश्च मल्लिकाभिश्च पाटलैः //
mandāramālatībhiśca tathā dhattūrakairapi sinduvārairaśokaiśca mallikābhiśca pāṭalaiḥ //
Also with mandāra and mālatī, and likewise with dhattūra; with sinduvāra and aśoka, and with mallikā and pāṭala—(the sacred precinct should be adorned and supplied) with such flowers and trees.
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it focuses on auspicious flora used to beautify and ritually support sacred spaces and worship.
It supports the dharma of maintaining temples and public sacred spaces—kings and householders are encouraged to plant and provide auspicious trees/flowers for regular worship and communal merit.
It gives a Vastu/ritual planting and offering list—mandāra, jasmine varieties, aśoka, pāṭala, etc.—implying these are recommended species for temple environs and for supplying flowers used in pūjā.
