Matsya Purana — The Kauśika Descendants: Śrāddha
नैतदेवं करिष्यामि पुनः क्वापीह सुव्रते स्पृशामि पादौ सत्येन प्रसीद प्रणतस्य मे //
naitadevaṃ kariṣyāmi punaḥ kvāpīha suvrate spṛśāmi pādau satyena prasīda praṇatasya me //
“I will not do this in such a way again—ever, anywhere here, O noble-vowed one. I touch your feet; by the power of truth, be gracious to me who bows down in submission.”
It reflects the devotional mood within the Pralaya narrative: Manu, anticipating or responding to extraordinary divine events, seeks protection and clarity through surrender and truthfulness rather than describing cosmology directly.
It models rajadharma and grihastha-dharma through humility, restraint (not repeating a fault), and satya (truthfulness) as a moral force—showing that righteous leadership begins with accountability and reverence for dharma.
The ritual element is the gesture of reverence—“touching the feet”—a standard act of pranama in dharmic practice; no Vastu/temple-building rule is stated in this particular verse.
