Matsya Purana — The Kalyāṇa-Saptamī
अनेन विधिना यस्तु कुर्यात्कल्याणसप्तमीम् सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तः सूर्यलोके महीयते आयुरारोग्यमैश्वर्यम् अनन्तमिह जायते //
anena vidhinā yastu kuryātkalyāṇasaptamīm sarvapāpavinirmuktaḥ sūryaloke mahīyate āyurārogyamaiśvaryam anantamiha jāyate //
Whoever performs the auspicious Kalyāṇa-Saptamī in this prescribed manner becomes freed from all sins, is honored in the realm of the Sun, and in this very world gains boundless longevity, health, and prosperity.
This verse is not about Pralaya; it is a phala-śruti (statement of results) for observing Kalyāṇa-Saptamī, emphasizing karmic purification and attainment of Sūrya-loka.
It supports the householder (and king) duty of vrata-dharma—performing prescribed observances for self-purification and social stability—promising practical fruits valued in governance and household life: health, longevity, and prosperity.
The significance is ritual, not architectural: it highlights that performing Kalyāṇa-Saptamī exactly “by this procedure” (anena vidhinā) yields purification from sin and merit leading to honor in Sūrya-loka.
