Matsya Purana — The Greatness and Procedure of the Sarva-Phala-Tyaga Vrata
ताम्रं तालफलं कुर्याद् अगस्तिफलमेव च पिण्डारकाश्मर्यफलं तथा सूरणकन्दकम् //
tāmraṃ tālaphalaṃ kuryād agastiphalameva ca piṇḍārakāśmaryaphalaṃ tathā sūraṇakandakam //
One should employ copper, the fruit of the palmyra palm, and also the fruit of Agasti; likewise the fruits of piṇḍāraka and kāśmarya, and the tuber (bulb) of sūraṇa.
This verse is not about Pralaya; it is a technical listing of approved substances (metal and plant products) to be employed in a prescribed ritual/temple-related procedure.
It supports dharmic duty through correct performance and patronage of rites—kings and householders are expected to follow scriptural material prescriptions when sponsoring consecrations, offerings, or sanctioned constructions.
It functions as a dravya-nirdesha (materials list): copper and specified fruits/tubers are sanctioned inputs, likely for preparations such as offerings, paste/mixtures, or ritual components used in temple-building or consecration contexts.
