Matsya Purana — The Battle at Tripura: Shiva’s Strategy
नन्दीश्वरे गते तत्र गणपाः ख्यातविक्रमाः दुद्रुवुर्जातसंरम्भा विद्युन्मालिनमासुरम् //
nandīśvare gate tatra gaṇapāḥ khyātavikramāḥ dudruvurjātasaṃrambhā vidyunmālinamāsuram //
When Nandīśvara had gone there, the Gaṇas—renowned for their prowess—rushed forward, their fury aroused, against the Asura Vidyunmālin.
This verse is not about Pralaya; it depicts a conflict episode where Śiva’s attendants (Gaṇas) charge the Asura Vidyunmālin after Nandīśvara’s arrival.
Indirectly, it reflects a Purāṇic ethic of protecting order (dharma) by confronting disruptive forces; the Gaṇas’ swift response models disciplined action against adharma rather than household or royal administration rules.
No Vāstu or temple-ritual instruction appears in this verse; it is a narrative transition emphasizing movement, readiness, and martial confrontation in a Shaiva mythic context.
