Matsya Purana — Solar–Lunar Motions
तद्वक्ष्यामि प्रसंख्याय साम्प्रतं चाभिमानिभिः अभिमानिनो ह्यतीता ये तुल्यास्ते साम्प्रतैस्त्विह //
tadvakṣyāmi prasaṃkhyāya sāmprataṃ cābhimānibhiḥ abhimānino hyatītā ye tulyāste sāmprataistviha //
Now I shall explain it by enumerating it—both as it stands at present and with reference to the Abhimānins. For the Abhimānins who have passed away are here regarded as comparable to those of the present time.
This verse does not describe Pralaya directly; it signals a method of orderly enumeration and comparison across time—linking past groups (now ‘gone by’) with those existing in the present cycle.
Indirectly, it supports dharmic governance and household life by grounding tradition in accurate reckoning—preserving lineage, precedent, and continuity between past exemplars and present counterparts.
No Vāstu or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; its significance is textual-structural—introducing a counted list and a cross-epoch comparison that frames subsequent material.
