Matsya Purana — Solar Dynasty Prelude: Vivasvān–Saṃjñā–Chāyā
कस्य भर्तुरहं दत्ता कियद्वत्स्यामि भूतले चिन्तयन्तीति ददृशे सोमपुत्रेण साङ्गना //
kasya bharturahaṃ dattā kiyadvatsyāmi bhūtale cintayantīti dadṛśe somaputreṇa sāṅganā //
“To which husband have I been given? How long shall I remain upon this earth?”—as she pondered thus, that lady was seen by Budha, Soma’s son, together with his attendants.
This verse does not describe pralaya; it is a human, ethical-narrative moment focused on uncertainty, destiny, and social relations (marriage) within the story flow.
It highlights the vulnerability created by unclear marital status—an implicit dharma theme: household order depends on rightful marriage arrangements and protection of women, which kings and guardians are expected to uphold.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; its significance is narrative and ethical rather than architectural.
