Matsya Purana — Solar Dynasty Prelude: Vivasvān–Saṃjñā–Chāyā
भ्रमन्ती च वने तस्मिंश् चिन्तयामास भामिनी को मे पिताथवा भ्राता का मे माता भवेदिह //
bhramantī ca vane tasmiṃś cintayāmāsa bhāminī ko me pitāthavā bhrātā kā me mātā bhavediha //
Wandering in that forest, the distraught woman reflected: “Who here could be my father or my brother? Who here could be my mother?”
This verse does not discuss pralaya or cosmology; it is a human-centered narrative moment expressing disorientation and loss while wandering in a forest.
Indirectly, it underscores the vulnerability caused by separation from family and protection; in Purāṇic ethics this supports the householder’s duty of care and the ruler’s duty to ensure safety and refuge for the distressed.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is mentioned; the verse is purely narrative and psychological in tone.
