Matsya Purana — Saubhagya-Śayana Vow: Lalitā/Gaurī–Śiva Worship
*मनुरुवाच कथमाराधनं तस्या जगद्धात्र्या जनार्दन तद्विधानं जगन्नाथ तत्सर्वं च वदस्व मे //
*manuruvāca kathamārādhanaṃ tasyā jagaddhātryā janārdana tadvidhānaṃ jagannātha tatsarvaṃ ca vadasva me //
Manu said: “O Janārdana, how is that World-Mother to be worshipped? O Lord of the universe, tell me the prescribed procedure for it—tell me all of it.”
This verse does not describe Pralaya directly; it frames a doctrinal-ritual inquiry where Manu asks Janārdana for the proper worship-method of the World-Mother, implying cosmic order is sustained through correct devotion and rite.
By requesting the exact vidhi (procedure), Manu models the householder/kingly duty of performing worship according to śāstra—seeking authorized instruction rather than improvising—so that personal and social dharma remain aligned.
The ritual significance is explicit: Manu asks for the complete ārādhana-vidhāna (worship protocol). Architectural details are not stated in this verse, but it typically serves as the lead-in to instructions that may include altar/temple-related ritual setup in the surrounding passage.
