Matsya Purana — Ritual Bathing
कपिलश्चासुरिश्चैव वोढुः पञ्चशिखस्तथा सर्वे ते तृप्तिमायान्तु मद्दत्तेनाम्बुना सदा //
kapilaścāsuriścaiva voḍhuḥ pañcaśikhastathā sarve te tṛptimāyāntu maddattenāmbunā sadā //
May Kapila, Asuri, Vodhu, and Pañcaśikha—may all of them ever attain satisfaction through the water offered by me.
This verse does not describe pralaya; it focuses on ritual propitiation (tarpana), expressing a wish that specific sages be satisfied through the offered water.
It reflects the householder/kingly duty of maintaining dharma through daily or periodic rites—especially tarpana—honoring revered sages by offering water with proper intention and remembrance.
The significance is ritual: it is a formula of sankalpa-like intent in rishi-tarpana, naming recipients (Kapila, Asuri, Vodhu, Pañcaśikha) and dedicating the offered water for their satisfaction.
