Matsya Purana — Ravi-Saṅkrānti Vow: Udyāpana
नमः सवित्रे नैरृत्ये वारुणे तपनं पुनः वायव्ये तु भगं न्यस्य पुनः पुनरथार्चयेत् //
namaḥ savitre nairṛtye vāruṇe tapanaṃ punaḥ vāyavye tu bhagaṃ nyasya punaḥ punarathārcayet //
In the south-west (nairṛta) quarter one should place (perform nyāsa of) “Salutation to Savitṛ”; again, in the Varuṇa quarter, place “Tapana”; and in the north-west (vāyavya) quarter, having placed “Bhaga,” one should worship again and again.
This verse is not about pralaya; it is a ritual instruction focusing on directional nyāsa and repeated worship, indicating the Purāṇic emphasis on ordered cosmic space (dik) rather than dissolution.
It reflects the householder/kingly duty of maintaining dharma through correct worship: installing mantras in prescribed directions and performing repeated arcana to sustain auspicious order in the realm and household.
Ritually, it teaches dik-nyāsa—assigning specific solar/divine names (Savitṛ, Tapana, Bhaga) to specific quarters—an approach closely aligned with Vāstu-based directional sanctification used in temple and altar worship.
