Matsya Purana — Prayaga Mahatmya: Trimurti Presence
ये चान्ये बहवः सर्वे तिष्ठन्ति च युधिष्ठिर यत् पृथिवी तत्समाश्रित्य निर्मिता दैवतैस् त्रिभिः //
ye cānye bahavaḥ sarve tiṣṭhanti ca yudhiṣṭhira yat pṛthivī tatsamāśritya nirmitā daivatais tribhiḥ //
And many others as well, O Yudhiṣṭhira, remain established; for the Earth—resting upon that very foundation—was fashioned by the three deities.
It emphasizes creation-order rather than dissolution: the Earth is said to be “made” by a triad of deities and established upon an underlying support, implying a structured cosmic foundation that persists through cycles.
By grounding worldly stability in divine order, it supports the ethic that kingship and household life should be aligned with dharma—maintaining stability, supporting institutions, and honoring the cosmic principles that uphold the world.
The key idea is “foundation/support” (samāśritya): vastu planning and ritual site selection mirror cosmic stability—sacred construction should be conceived as resting on correct underlying principles, not merely on physical ground.
