Matsya Purana — Prayaga Mahatmya: Trimurti Presence
*युधिष्ठिर उवाच कथं सर्वमिदं प्रोक्तं प्रयागस्य महामुने एतन्नः सर्वमाख्याहि यथा हि मम तारयेत् //
*yudhiṣṭhira uvāca kathaṃ sarvamidaṃ proktaṃ prayāgasya mahāmune etannaḥ sarvamākhyāhi yathā hi mama tārayet //
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “O great sage, how has all this concerning Prayāga been declared? Please explain it all to us fully, so that it may indeed become a means of deliverance for me.”
This verse does not describe Pralaya directly; it frames a request for a complete teaching on Prayāga whose hearing and understanding is presented as spiritually salvific.
As a king, Yudhiṣṭhira seeks dharmic clarity and purification through authoritative instruction; the verse models the ruler’s duty to learn sacred law and tirtha-dharma for personal integrity and the moral guidance of society.
No explicit Vāstu or temple-building rule appears in this verse; its ritual implication is that right knowledge of Prayāga’s sacred practices and merits is itself a means toward purification and liberation.
