Matsya Purana — Paurava Genealogy: Bharata
सुपार्श्वतनयश्चापि सुमतिर्नाम धार्मिकः सुमतेरपि धर्मात्मा राजा संनतिमानपि //
supārśvatanayaścāpi sumatirnāma dhārmikaḥ sumaterapi dharmātmā rājā saṃnatimānapi //
And Supārśva also had a son named Sumati, a righteous man. From Sumati too was born a dharma-souled king named Saṃnatimān.
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it preserves dynastic continuity by naming successive righteous rulers in a royal lineage.
By repeatedly marking the rulers as dhārmika and dharmātmā, the text signals that legitimate kingship is grounded in dharma—moral governance, protection of subjects, and adherence to righteous conduct.
No vastu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is mentioned; the focus is purely genealogical, highlighting dharmic character in royal succession.
